Zanka is a small village located on the north shore of lake Balaton in Hungary. It has been a summer resort for my mother’s family for many years and although I was born in Canada, it holds a special place for me. Today it is a fascinating place to visit with lots of vineyards, cycling paths and a very pleasant beach.
The old village is located up on the hill with spectacular views of Lake Balaton with many small villages, castles and other places near by to explore. The resort area is still relatively undeveloped and not “touristy” which lends itself to the charm of that place. For a pleasant relaxing holiday with a taste of the real Hungary, Zanka is well worth the visit.
